Shalom Chaverim,

I remember that back in the 80's when I was living

on a kibbutz, the Gordon Hostel was where everyone stayed

when we had a long weekend and went into Tel Aviv. The

place holds many great memories for me and I swore that I

would stay there if I were to be in Tel Aviv again.

I am returning to the Holy Land for the first time in a quarter century and would like to know if the Gordon Hostel (not the Gordon Inn) is still open and what the rates are. Todah rabah and Am Yisroel Chai!!!

The Gordon Hostel was on Gordon street

just a little in from the beach. Is it still

open? I realize that the country has made

tremendous changes in the past decade.

there is a hostel on the corner of Gordon and Ben-Yehuda streets, one with an attched american-style pub. NOt sure if this is exactly the one you mean though.

Thank you, Aristotle, but I believe that my old

Gordon Hostel was not exactly on the corner of Gordon

Street and Ben Yehuda Street, but actually

only a few meters in from the beach. I believe

it is quite conspicuous, with the outer wall painted with

pictures of Masai warriors.

I tried to find it when I was there last October. My name's Gordon and I thought that might be a nice connection! All I could find was a Gordon Hotel which is also just in from the beach. Too expensive for this backpacker and I'm afraid your old Gordon may have gone. Sorry not to be able to give you more encouraging news.
