Getting from Haifa Central Station to Carmel

It's only a few minutes' walk from Haifa Central to the Carmelit station at Paris Square.

Where will you be arriving in Haifa from? Unless you're coming off a ship in Haifa port, there may be a more convenient connection by bus from another station in Haifa to the top of the Carmel. Of course you might be a railway enthusiast - like me - and want to go on the Carmelit for its own sake.

I am at work now and can't look up bus details, but I'll do it when I get home. It would help if I knew the name (or address) of your hotel.

Thanks so much for helping Shuffaluff, I'll be coming from Tel Aviv and I'm staying at the Nof on Hanassi Ave.
I'll have plenty of time during my stay to use the Carmelite I just want the most convenient means of transport that doesn't involve much walking as I'll have a heavy case!

Take a taxi from the train to your hotel. It will probably cost about 50-70 NIS. Insist that the driver use the meter and do not agree to a fixed price - by law he has to use the meter if you request it.

OK, I'll work it out for you when I get home this evening. It could be that there's a better bus connection from Hof Hacarmel or Bat Galim.

I'm not very familiar with Haifa city transport - I live in the Jerusalem area - but I have loads of maps and stuff bookmarked on my home computer.

Meanwhile I see mbgg has posted (hi, mbgg!) to tell you to take a taxi. Let me know if you still want me to work out public transport details.

I would appreciate the bus details so I can decide how active I feel on the day. Thanks mbgg, I'll make sure to insist on the meter if I do use taxi.

You have two options:
(a) From Hof Hacarmel station, bus 3, departing from the bus terminal adjacent to the railway station;
(b) From Bat Galim station, bus 28.
The ride from Hof Hacarmel looks much more scenic.
