Hiya everyone
I am considering going overland (bus?) from Egypt to Israel and back in 8 days in Dec. Is this feasible or should I stretch it a little? What can I expect for travelling time? I mostly just want to see Jerusalem... it would be nice to go elsewhere but I know my time is limited and I don't want to spend all my time travelling. I am also transferring thru Malaysia on my way back home so I really can't afford to have an Israeli stamp on my passport. How obliging are border officials with the piece of paper method? Also I'm 18yo female and I'll be alone.. Of course I'll dress conservatively and all but what other precautions should I take? Should I aim to buddy up with other travellers going the same route?
Thanks in advance,
Anna

There is no problem entering Malaysia with an Israel stamp in your passport. Malaysia denies entry only to Israeli passport holders

If you go overland to Israel from Egypt, there is no way to avoid passport evidence that you have been to Israel. Even if Israel stamp a piece of paper, Egypt will stamp you out from that frontier post, showing very clearly that you are entering Israel.

But if there is no problem in Malaysia, then this is not important.

If you are thinking of entrering Israel from the Egypt / Gaza border - I would give it a miss as they are under fire again from Israeli missiles. Might be a tad dangerous.

Try going through Eilat - you should be fine but if you can chum up with other travellers, why not - you'll make friends and maybe enjoy it more. You need a good two days in Jerusalem to go around the Arab souk and the surrounding
points of interest comfortably.

Have a great time.

The only Egypt-Israel border crossing for the general public is at Taba (Eilat). The Rafah crossing between Egypt and Gaza (when open) is only for Palestinians.

Cheers everyone, such a relief to hear about Malaysia! will definitely aim to cross at Eilat. Now all I have to worry about is a 3 hour stopover in Bahrain I completely overlooked.. just incase i still have anyone's attention, will a stamp be a problem there? My research so far has returned mixed answers.

the following countries are the only countries that wont allow entry with a israeli stamp in passport.
Iran
Kuwait
Lebanon
Libya
Qatar
Saudi Arabia
Sudan
Syria
Yemen

at the taba border they will not honur stamps on bits of paper and if possible apply for visa before travelling to either egypt or israeli and i have spend over a week trying to do this myself while in the countries. during this process i had several guns held at me.
