Thanks but I have already read that webpage. What I am REALLY asking, and I should have been clearer, is if I will need one IN PRACTISE from someone who KNOWS and / or has EXPERIENCE.

I think a return ticket is required - why not contact the local embassy/consulate to get definitive information.
Thanks touristisrael.com but he's already seen the consulate's webpage which states that all visitors to Israel require a return ticket. What he's REALLY asking, and he should have been clearer, is an opinion from a COMPLETE STRANGER on a FORUM rather than find out from the RELEVANT AUTHORITIES with one PHONE CALL.

as with everything here in israel, this is a matter of luck... when i came here last time they didn't even ask for the return ticket (luckily, as i didn't have one...), but i know that other people have been sent back, so there's definitely a risk involved. however, if (when asked) you explain about your plans and count on not having the most stubborn airport official in front of you, you will probably be fine... but, as i said, a matter of luck...

I have entered Israel several times without needing (or having) a return ticket. But of course you never know what they might make a fuss about. But as long as you have a good explanation for not having a return ticket I can not imagine that that alone would cause problems (but if you already have other things that might give you trouble at the airport the ticket-issue migth also be a problem).

insominia_7's right, it's all about luck. having said that, i've been to israel 15 times and i've never been asked for my return ticket... they usually ask how long you're staying, which you seem to have an idea of, so that should help. make sure you answer the airport official honestly, but don't give them any extra information that they don't ask for and hopefully they won't ask about your return ticket!
I never got ask either for a return ticket and I'm living in Israel already a couple of years ( I'm german ). But when you catch the wrong security chick at the airport you just never know here. But if you get a return flight out of Cairo and a valid visa for Egypt you should be fine. And it can be that you'll have to proof that you have enough money for the trip.
But here is everything possible. Welcome to the middle east!
