Hello bjorn14 . I stayed for two days in Wadi Mujib Chalets last May and loved it. Despite being a simple hosting the chalets are comfortable, just a few steps from the Dead Sea, the local landscape is beautiful, almost no one is there, you can also visit the Wadi Mujib Reserve and join one of fantastic trails in the Mujib Canyon.

You can make the reservation here : http://www.rscn.org.jo/orgsite/Reserves/MUJIBNATURERESERVE/Wheretostay/tabid/218/Default.aspx

But dont send an email because they dont answer. Better you call .

See also the trails I joined the Malaqi trail was wonderful. One of the coolest adventure of my life.

OP was referring to the Israel side of the Dead Sea. :)

Unfortunately, "inexpensive hotel on the Dead Sea" is an oxymoron. There are cheaper ones, but I don't know what your range of "inexpensive" is. Also, there is the hostel at Ein Gedi (the hotels are all at Ein Bokek, about 35 km south of Ein Gedi).

[www.iyha.org.il/eng/ ] bjorn14 On the Israeli side of the Dead Sea, the Ein Gedi Youth Hostel called ''Beit Sarah'',is by the bus stop Eilat / Jerusalem. From the hostel it's a very easy walk (10 Minutes) along the shore line promenade, to a free bathing beach with showers by the Dead Sea. All private rooms and dorms are a/c, some have sea views with balconies. A good option is took pay the extra for an evening meal, as there is nowhere local to eat. But the hostel facilities and resident gazelle are ace. Check out their website: www.iyha.org.il/eng/
