I would like to do a day trip from Jerusalem to Bethlehem and Jericho. I know they are both under Palestinian Authority so Israeli taxis cannot enter and they are opposite directions out of Jerusalem. Any thoughts on how to arrange this? I have a party of 4 adults. I don't want to go other places or spend time for prearranged shopping so I'm not sure a group tour would work.

Israeli taxis ( regular yellow plated vehicles) driven by Arabs CAN enter PA areas. You can easily get an Arab driver by the Damascus Gate or once in Bethlehem find a yellow plated cab to take you to Jericho. ( I think there may also be van transportation)

Vehicles can not cross from Jordan to Israel. ( or PA areas) So, your driver either works in Jordan or he works in Israel. --not both!
