Can someone please suggest the easies way of getting from Tel Aviv to Amman in Jordan. Any idea how long this should take. I am also under the understanding that on an Australian passport you dont need to pre buy a visa and can just get on as u cross teh border paying there?

It depends on which crossing you are using. At the Allenby bridge, which is frequently used when coming the other way as it represents the only way to avoid the Israeli stamp stigma, no visas are issued. All other crossings issue no-hassle visas on arrival for 10 Jordanian dinars to most nationals, including Australians.
No it's not a problem at all. But many people want to go to Syria after visiting Israel and thus have to avoid any trace of a visit in order to avoid problems when entering that country.
As george said, you have to have a visa in advance if you want to cross from Israel to Jordan via the Allenby/King Hussein Bridge. While the most direct route from Tel Aviv to Amman is via the Allenby Bridge, it is also the slowest, most expensive and most annoying. If at all possible, arrange your Jordan/Israel itinerary so that using one of the other two crossings becomes feasible.
Ok can anyone tell me a route from Tel aviv to Aman where i dont need a visa in advance? So basically where are the other crossings and how do i get there from tel aviv???

The crossing just north of Eilat/Aqaba (4.5 hour direct bus ride from Tel Aviv) is the best. The other (northern) crossing is near Beit She'an (I think you have to take a bus to Afula and change there for Beit She'an - I'm not sure - and then a short taxi ride to the crossing). You will also have to take a taxi on the Jordanian side.
Buses run at 2pm every day except Saturdays from Tel Aviv central bus station direct to 7th Circle in Amman - they use the northern crossing, where you can buy your Jordanian visa as you cross (10 JD).
