Tel Aviv in April is sunny, not as hot as the summer but good enough to sunbath.
a 1-day trip to Jerusalem is really easy, and there are plenty of buses. I found a cheap apartment accommodation at tlvapts.com, they have a bunch on short term low cost apartments.
