I'm looking for a midrange to budget hotel/hostel/B&B in Caesarea. The LP lists only two: Dan Caesarea (US$120/140) and Grushka B&B (US$145). Is there anything less expensive? I'm only there one night, and I don't need a high-end hotel or B&B.

Try and contact Kibbutz Sdot Yam which is very near Caesarea. They used to have guest bungalows. Sorry I can't find a phone number but the main kibbutz office in Tel Aviv could help.

Unfortunately Israel is overendowed with luxury accommodation at outrageous prices. And according to its web site Kibbutz Sdot Yam accepts only groups.

You might try this:

I know nothing whatsoever about it; just found it on the internet. However, even some of the B&B places are very up-market. An owner will put in a jacuzzi or something - he only has to install it once, obviously - and then charge phenomenal prices for a place with a jacuzzi. You get the idea.

I was just in Caesarea today. Our tour guide said that the only hotels there are EXTREMELY expensive (Dan Hotel, etc.) because it is a luxury excursion. You can do the whole place in a half day though so it may be worthwhile to stay elsewhere and drive in if you have a car.

I (the OP in this thread) ended up staying at Grushka B&B, in nearby Binyamina. Nice enough, but like everything else in Israel, not terribly inexpensive either. I took a taxi between Caesarea and the B&B. Not very efficient, but still cheaper than the Dan hotel would have been. I didn't check with the kibbutz, but that would have been another option.

Lorenzoid, I'm glad you found something in the end!

Israel isn't a particularly cheap destination. Unfortunately most tourist services are aimed at wealthy travellers who wouldn't settle for anything less than five-star luxury. There are far too many top-end hotels and not enough one- and two-star places. Israel loves tourists who come in herds with their own guide and bus - and of course spend heaps of money - but for independent souls who like to do their own thing, it's another story.

There is an amazing new b&b opening in binyamina this summer.
Really magical clean and new.
And surprizingly cheap.
its called TEYA B & B Binyamina.
Its set in a small orchard - pick your own free fruit!

#6: so how come there is no mention of it on the internet, except for your post?

I have no personal interest in knowing about this "amazing ... b&b" since I live in Israel and have no need for it, but I suspect that since you signed up three years after this thread was last added to, solely to post this "recommendation", you have a financial stake in this establishment. If that is so, you are advertising, which is against the terms of use of Thorn Tree.
