A previous post mentioned the difficulty of obtaining a visa from the Iranian embassy in Canberra. We recently printed the visa application form of the web site, sent it and our passports off to the embassy, and received the visas two weeks later. However, despite mentioning on the application form that we were travelling to Iran in mid February, the three month visas expired in late January. I phoned the embassy, spoke to 'Ali' and was told to send them back for correction. Problem solved…

I'm currently in Van waiting for the transasyan express to whisk me off to Tehran and was wondering if any on had any recommendations to hotels there?

also has anyone applied for a Pakistani visa there;ive heard that a letter of recommendation from your home embassy is required.

I am 25 female, just finishing studying law after doing an undergrad in Interntional Relations. I am a quarter Iranian (my grandmother) and was thinking of going to Iran to visit it, but also to do some work there. I was thinking of trying to get some work in an NGO that promotes democracy. Does anyone know of anything?

hi, i will be going to iran in a weeks time, but i dont really know which currency to take with me? british pounds of us dollars? pounds seem better for me as i live in the uk, and the pound seems to be getting stronger, and the dollar is geting weaker

hallo, i am currently in iran and trying to buy my train ticket from tehran to istanbul. but... it seems that, in order to issue the ticket, they need to see the turkish visa on my passport. i have tried to explain that, being european, i usually pay for it at the border, but they insist i need to have the visa in order to buy the ticket. is this true ? had anybody a similar experience ? how long does it take, eventually, to get the stamp at the turkish embassy in tehran ? mamnun. marco

I was wondering if it is necessary to go through an official agency (iranianvisa.com etc.) to provide visa support for the 7 day visa on arrival at Tehran airport? I did this before and it worked well, but I didn't see any documents delivered by the agency. The 50 USD I payed seemed useless, since the border guy just checked my passport and asked me some questions. So my question: has anyone arrived in Tehran without any agency support and been granted the airport visa?

Supposedly, lots of nationalities can get a two-week visa on arrival coming to Kish. And there actually are travel reports about that. And then one can easily convert this visa to a full-blown, 30-day Iranian visa.

What I wonder is there is a direct flight from Istanbul to Kish. Why do people go through all this pain of getting an Iranian tourist visa in advance, if they supposedly can fly from Turkey to Kish (most come from Turkey anyway), get a visa on arrival and convert it within two days…

Do they still have a ferry between Qatar and Iran? Older LP guides say they do, but the latest one on the Peninsula does not mention one. Is it discontinued?

Also, how come all the sites of the ferry companies in the Gulf are down? Is there any place to check prices and schedules from Iran to Kuwait, Bahrein, UAE [, Qatar]?

Has anyone used them for a tour?

I see a lot of talk about Key2Persia.com in visa posts but has anyone used them for a tour? they seem fairly resonable.
