Hi all,

I'm planning a visit to Iran early next year and wondering if anyone has insight into the photography and filming regulations with a still camera or personal camcorder--not for journalistic purposes--for personal use (I'm an American and will be on a tourist visa). I've gotten mixed information from many sources. Also, does anyone have recommendations on best tour companies?

I am going to Iran in a few weeks and wanted to know which guide is better - Iran (2004) or Middle East (2007)? I know the prices listed might have increased slightly, but what about content? Which one would you buy? I would prefer to Iran one as its dedicated to Iran and I am not visiting any of the other countries in the book (except Turkey, which i have covered in another guide), but is it really out of wack?

Anyone ever heard of Dibai House in Esfahan, a mansion turned into a hotel? I found their website while looking for old houses to visit, and it certainly looks more interesting than a modern iranian hotel... If you have seen it or stayed there, would you recommend it?

does anyone know about this town? its supposed to have a place where the water flows uphill? tried looking for information on it on the internet but no luck... thanks

I read in the Lonely Planet that there are sometimes flocks of flamingoes at Lake Orumiyeh. Has anyone seen them? How would I get there from tehran? Thinking of a trip next year in October.... ( so still in the earliest daydreaming stages, but the flamingoes caught my imagination...)

I'm heading into Iran in several weeks and am keen to get down to the south-west area to see some of the history. I've had a look but there don't seem to be many posts for this area - has anyone been there recently? Is the best way out to Choqa Zanbil a taxi from Shush and do you have some current taxi pricing for the trip? Also are there any security issues when travelling around this area?

I know the ME is renowned for heavy fag smoking especially as I live locally myself but just wondered what the situtation was like in Iran on long distance buses.......
