hello friends!

i'm wanting to visit iran in spring 2016 but am having a really hard time finding any options that exceed 14 or 17 days since i'll need a guide/tour/sponsorship/whatever. i REALLY would like to be in iran as long as possible//get to see as much of the country as possible i.e. longer than 14 days which is the max on most tours. there is also a fairly good chance that i will be traveling "alone" (w. a guide or tour or whatever works out)-- at the moment i don't have any reason to…

Hi I'm travelling to Iran very soon and I'm worried about getting out of the airport.

I arrive at Tehran imam khomeini airport at 04:00 from India via Abu Dhabi. Will it be possible to change US dollars this early in the morning? I only have to get enough for the taxi fare to the city as I will be joining Tehran locals on the visit.

Thanks,

heyho :)

I want to visit afghanistan. Flying to kabul costs for me 550 €, but to teheran it's 200 €. So i am thinking about taking the bus from teheran to herat. Maybe i would stay in herat, maybe i would try to make my way to kabul. But let's focus here on the bus trip inside iran.

"The price of the bus ticket from Tehran to Mashhad was 175,000 Rials.
The trip took about 12 hours"

Just back from a 2 weeks tour, I' like sharing some useful info.
1) As I flew from Italy direct to Shiraz I was the only passenger who needed a visa when I landed. Nevertheless it took 90' to get a 30 days VOA (50 € ,or 54$, + 15 € or 18$ if you don't have any international insurance).
2) No money exchange at Shiraz Int. Airport, so take some small €/$ note to get a taxi.
3) During my stay in Shiraz I choosed Arg hotel in Takhti st. (1.930.000 rl or 51,00 € for an excellent suite room, nr 201)…

I've been told you have to carry ALL YOUR CASH while traveling in Iran, but how do you reserve a hotel ahead of time
if you don't have a credit card. Let me know! Thanks:)

Hello all!

I have decided to go to Iran, and am so excited, and am just trying to decide when. The chief factor in my decision is wanting to see the former US embassy.

Travel book research tells me that the embassy is only open Feb 1-10. Luckily, I will be able to go then, but am wondering whether I should. Apparently, it will be quite cold. I would rather go in April or May, but am so curious about the embassy.

  1. Is the embassy worth it?
  2. Just how cold will it be in Feb? Enough to…

Hi,

I found an old post from a couple of years ago, but none updated ones.
Have anyone brought their own car into Iran recently?
What kind of documents did you need?

We were hoping to go without Carnet, but it seems thats impossible?

I heard a rumor saying that it was possible to rent/buy Iranian number plates on the border legally? Does anyone know anything about this?

We will cross at the Astara border from Azerbaijan.

Furthermore, we are leaving the car in Tehran for 6-8 months before…

Helo once more :)

I have a few questions concerning traveling by bus in Iran.

  1. Can someone tell me the duration of traveling by bus between following cities: Tehran to Eshafan, Eshafan to Yazd, Yazd to Shiraz
  2. Are buses reliable, and are there night buses between these cities?

Also, I have a question about beeing in Iran during national holidays Eid-e-Ghorban (Feast of Sacrifice, 13. september 2016.) and Eid-al-Ghadir (21. september 2016.). Is it possible to travel during these days, are…

Hello,

I am flying to Teheran on 18 december, arriving around midnight.

I am considering getting a visa on arrival, but was wondering if visa offices would still be open that late ?
I don't want to be stuck till the morning...

It's probably safer to apply for a visa beforehand, but I'm not sure if there's still enough time for the whole procedure...

Do you think it's okay for a Belgian guy to land in Teheran at 23h50 without visa ?

thanks

Hi
I have recently been in touch with an Iranian travel agency who say they can get me a visa code, and as long as I have a guide for 1 day I can then travel independently without a guide. Is this possible and what would the consequences be if I was found without a guide?
This would be great if it is doable, any input on this please
Cheers
