Hello
I am a woman and i am planning to travel to Iran next september. I am travelling alone and without any organized tour, may be perhaps I can contact and hire a guide. Do you know if women travelling alone in Iran are exposed to any problem with authorities or the people? Any women can tell me her experience?

Thank you very much

Just do a search of the previous posts here. This subject has been discussed many times.

Iran is very safe for women travellers.

Hi,

Iran is safe to travel to and there are many 'solo' foreign female travelers who visit Iran all the time. Just take usual precautions.
Local authorities will not bother or harass you because you are a woman traveling by yourself! However, try to find 'traveling partners' before coming here of you can, by posting topics on this very LP forum. Let me know if you need more help.Bye.

I've been twice (solo) to Iran, first for 20 days then, last year, for almost a month.
If you do a search for my name plus this branch you can find my various reports, which i don't fancy writing all over again :>)).

You can find a recent thread here http://www.lonelyplanet.com/thorntree/thread.jspa?threadID=1615373
Make sure you base your judgement on input from women who travelled without a male companion, as it's an entirely different experience. As you can read here it's not unsafe, but not always very pleasant either - better to know that upfront.
