I live in Tehran and need to buy a copy of the Lonely Planet 2004 Iran guide book (I know that the new one is coming out in July). I can't get to north Tehran, so I need to know where in central/south Tehran it is available. If it is in Enqelab Square, that would be one of the best places for me to get to.

Thank you for your help.

You can also buy it from any Shahre Ketab book shop there are branches all over Tehran and any taxi would take you to the nearest, they are sure to have Iranian offset copies of LP and other English books or maps if you need any.
If need more info on Shahre Ketab ask me I can get you exact address and/or phone numbers for some branches.

Hi,
just found this post. So is it quite easy to find the LP Iran guidebook in Tehran - if I came to Iran in two or three weeks time. Also does anyone know of the availability of LP Afghanistan in Tehran - would I be able to find it at all?
Thanks,
Pei

I got one last month in a passage in Enqelab Square after reading the advice above. There were several shops selling the Iranian printed version. Mine cost only 5,500 tomans, but fell apart on the way home in the bus! The man we bought it from didn't understand it as a Lonely Planet book. He called it the blue book.

I don't know about the Afghanistan one, sorry.
