Afternoon to you all

Just a quick one to follow on the last post about watching the rugby world cup final. I'm a bit of a football (soccer) tragic and was wondering what the likelihood of being able to see the English Premiership matches whle travelling through Iran over the next month. I understand that most Iranians are pretty passionate about their football so I am hoping that games will be screened via satellite.

Do the mid-range hotels that advertise satellite TV include such channels? Also, in the absence of pubs, do tea houses or other places show the games in a public setting?

Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Cheers

Hi,

One of Iran's few and free state-run TV networks (channel 2 or 3?) has usually live broadcast of British Premier League games on Sat and/or Sun around 4-6pm, sometimes even after 9m. Just one game a day though. You may probably find more of those games Live on Turksat and possibly Arabsat. So If i were you I would first call the hotels to find out if they in fact they get TurkSat channels. however frankly I doubt that especially for mid-range hotels, which usually tend to carry a very few 'Hotbird' channels like perhaps BBC or CNN. Take care. Good luck.
