What kind of visa to you get if you just fly to IKA and apply for a Visa On Arrival?

Kind I spend some days in Iran, then travel to a neighbor country by land, and later back to Iran again by land? Or am I only allowed one entry to Iran, the entry from the airport?

Kind regards

They are single entry. VOA is not available at borders.

Either you do not return to Iran, or you fly from the "neighbouring country".

All tourist visas are single-entry. If you wish to return from a neighbouring country you will need to arrange another visa while there.

Thanks a lot for the information. Can you have two VOA valid at the same time?
Or asked in another way, can I do this:

  • Buy a return ticket to Tehran, and get a VOA
  • Travel out of Iran by land border
  • Buy a single flight ticket to Tehran
  • Ask for a new VOA (within the old ones validity periode - but it is already used once)
  • Fly out of Tehran

Possible?

Or even better - can I fly to Tehran from let us say Uzbekistan the same day as my return flight from Tehran to Europe, and just remain "airside" in the airport, or i transfer without asking for a new visa?

When you exit Iran (or any country), your current visa (or one of the available entries on that visa) is cancelled.

If your arriving and onward flights operate from the same airport, and you remain in transit, you need no further visa.

Thank you Emmeff - do you know if the border officers will issue a new visa so soon after the old one. I know eg India require min 60 days out of the country, even on a multiple entry visa... So this is the reason for my question.
I was in Iran in 2012 arrived by train and had my visa from Denmark, BUT the embassy in Copenhagen no longer issue visas to individuals - you have to apply through a agent - this is the reason for looking for a VOA...

I don't know the answer to that. I've never seen anything to indicate that there is a problem getting a new visa soon after the first, but that's as far as my advice goes. I suggest you will improve the certainty of getting the second visa if you use an agency.

There is a discussion about experiences with different agencies in this thread:

It's very long, so work backwards. My own experiences were with TZ, and I was extremely happy with the service provided. If you have a European bank account, you should be able to make a simple bank transfer to pay the visa fee, without the need for an intermediary service such as Skrill/Moneybookers. (By the way, someone sold the email addresses of Moneybookers users to spammers.)

1) You cannot have 2 active visas in your passport at the same time.

2) If you plan to reenter overland, you cannot get visa on arrival. Visa on arrival is only available at the airport. This means you will need to apply for a visa from an embassy

3) If you apply through a foreign embassy, it will take a while and will likely involve an agency.
