Afternoon all,

How long does it take to get a visa in Erzurum if you already have your visa authorization code?

I'll be turning up with British passport, my authorization number in hand, and several prior visas approved.

Please tell me it's a one-day job... :-)

I remember a story of 2 UK motorist in 2006 trying to collect their visa in Erzurum with a visa authorization code. It wasn't there when they asked at the Erzurum consulate. They drove back to Ankara to claim their visa and got it. Mega hassle indeed.

I've gone through the visa application in Erzurum - i've seen consulates doing a better service.
Read about it here. (bottom of page)

Looking back i'd definitely try and avoid dealing with the consulate in Erzurum the next time.

Good luck!

Hi.
Try to pick up your visa in Istanbul or Ankara instead!

Also, please tell me where you applied for Iran visa and how long it took! Did you go through a travel agency or not ? there is this British guy who has questions like that posted. Thanks.

It's not enough for you to have your authorisation code; the embassy or consulate must also have it. So you need to have to sent there first.

Thanks everyone.

This business of the embassy/consulate having the code as well as me has proved a holdup. İ was using İranianvsa.com and whilst they told me that the Minşstry of Foriegn Affairs had sent the number to the consulate, this turned out not to be true! Still waiting for that magic number to arrive...

Hi
Yes I have the same question.

My son and I are cycling from Ireland to Japan starting in a couple of weeks.
We will cycle through Turkey, then Iran, then Pakistan, then India.
I haven't arranged visas yet as it will be mid October before we will be in Iran and that's too far ahead.
However, I note that several people have talked about having an authorisation code and to collect their visa in Turkey so I am wondering if it is possible for us to apply for this before we leave, then collect them in Turkey.

How do we get an authorisation code? Please include any recommendations for travel agencies etc and where it is best to pick visas up (Erzum, Istanbul etc).

Also any suggestions about applying for Pakistan visa in Iran / Turkey or Indian visa in Pakistan.

Can anyone pass on what they know and any other advice that might save us some severe frustration in Turkey.

Best regards.

Mark Swain

I'm not quite sure what the situation is for Irish citizens. I needed an authorisation code when I applied on my British passport, but got a visa within a a day or so on my New Zealand one, without need ing a code number. Check with the Iranian embassy site.

If you do need one, [www.key2persia.com] is the cheapest as far as I know and is quite efficient. However, if you don't get a reply back withing 49 hours, email them again and/or fax them. You don't pay them until you get to Shiraz.
A visa is effective for entry within three months, so you may have to get your code (if required) sent to a Turkish embassy/consulate, and Erzurum would probably be the best one for you.

A Pakistani visa is effective for entry within six months. Depending on how long you expect to be travelling, it may be better to apply for it before you leave home. otherwise you'll need a 'letter of authorisation' from your own embassy and these can be costly.
But ask for clarification from you local embassy - maybe you can have it made effective for a longer period.

Have a great trip.
