Hi,
I am have been looking at applying for an Iranian visa in Australia. I wanted to know what the waiting time current was to get a visa, so I have tried to call the embassy many times. The phone is unfortunately always engaged. I could just send my passport anyway, but I am not sure how to contact them if i can't get it back in time as i need to travel in November...
Has anybody had any experience with the Embassy in Canberra? Should i make the trek down to Canberra or just send the passport anyway? Any suggestions?
Thanks,
Amit

Once you have your authorisation through (I used Iranianvisa.com which took 10 days) I posted my passport off to the embassy and had it back via express post within the week. This was 2 months ago.
The political situation does change quickly however having just got back myself I would say nothing less than GO GO GO...it is an awesome place.

Yes, you can first secure your visa with iranianvisa.com and then send your passport to the embassy.

Contact some commercial Passport and Visa Expediting Services in Canberra for local information. (Try to talk with the courier who does the actual contacts, not the receptionist). Even if you get the Auth# using an Iranian Expeditor; you may want a local Expeditor to assist with the visa-stamping (if your time has value).
Embassy and Consulate staff typically do not tend to answer phones and e-mails.
