Hi, I'm planning to take a trip to Iran after 6 months in India and 1 month in Pakistan and was wondering if the process of obtaining a visa for Iran would be easiest once in India (specifically New Dehli/Mumbai)rather than before my trip has started. I feel that logistically it would be more complex to organise now, what with there being no direct visa service in the UK, although leaving this to be sorted whilst out of my home country could obviously come riddled with other issues.

I was wondering if any UK nationals have tried this before, or what would be the best advice to give for Iranian visas with my particular travel plan? It's a little more work to sort an Iranian visa out when you are British, but its understandable I guess!

I plan to leave for India in mid-November, so the clock is ticking!

Thanks in advance!

It doesn't matter where you apply for it.

Firstly, as a Brit, you're aware you have to be part of a tour, right? As such, you will need to go through an agency and they will get you a visa reference number. You then go to an embassy, with this number, and they give you the actual visa.

It doesn't matter which embassy you use as the visa is actually approved in Tehran, not the embassy itself. So there's no such thing as an "easy" or "difficult" embassy.

Hi dbhouston,

Please read this post about getting an Iran visa in Delhi before you nominate that embassy. It was a complete nightmare for us. Although it was 2 years ago, and things may have changed, I somehow doubt it. That's if you decide to go on a tour.

Hope it helps......

As fluffy_bunny wrote you have to be on an organized tour that must be approved by the ICHTO as a UK national which of course makes the trip much more expensive - first to find a group tour to book on and second to pay the extra supplement for a single, often in Iran they charge a single rate the cost of 2 people. (There is no rhyme or reason, just be aware of the possible issues)
