Hi,
I would like to know your opinion on a trip to Iran in March.
The festivities of Persia New Year (No Ruz) last 3 weeks (from 15 March to 3 April).

The Lonely Planet 2012 advice to avoid the period between 21 March and 3 April, for major tourist sites (Isfahan, Shiraz, Yazd ...) except Tehran. On other (older) guides, they advise against the full period (the 3 weeks) including also Tehran.

Has anyone ever traveled to Iran during this period?
Should we expect accommodation and transport difficulties before March 21st?
Do you know if there are sites (Museums, Bazaar ...) closed several days during this period?
Thanks!

I have not, but have heard it's not a good idea to travel during Nowruz. Places might be fully booked.

What I know is that the celebrations continue for about a week after March 21. I travelled in Iran from Apr 2 last year, without any problems with finding accommodation or booking bus tickets.
I'd recommend April instead of March. April weather is quite pleasant, warm enough and not too hot, even in the south.
