Hi,
If anyone has flown Melbourne to Tehran with Malaysian Airlines to Kuala Lumpur, then to Tehran with Iran Air, I would like to hear any comments on the flight.

Any other flight suggestions are most welcome. Of course, I am looking for the cheapest price.

Thanks

Last week I booked a flight Kuala Lumpur - Tehran - Kuala Lumpur via Summit Air Travel (www.flyme.com.au) in Sydney for $950 Australian dollars INCLUDING tax on Iran Air. Good price. Nothing else cheaper. Travel agent is very kind.

I will fly Sydney-KL-Sydney on Jetstar (which I can book online myself for about $800 on jetstar.com.au). But don't delay, Jetstar are pulling out of Malaysia next month!

The other option is to get Iran Air from Bangkok - Tehran - Bangkok and then hook up with a flight from Bangkok to Oz (there is a whole heap of airlines flying from Thailand to Aust).

The Iran Air flight is on a 30 year old 747. Not the best, but you get what you pay for. They only have 2 flights a week to Malaysia - so I have to fit my schedule around it.

On bestflights.com.au there are a few other flights a little bit more expensive on Qatar Air, Ethihad and Emirates. But they will all cost more and involve 2nd and 3rd transit stop, so I think Iran Air is worth it.

My concern now is how long the Iran Embassy in Canberra will take. My application is now in the works being processed!

Last September my husband and I flew from Brisbane to Kuala Lumpur, to Manama in Bahrain and then to Tehran (one way). The first leg was with Malaysian Airlines and the second two with Gulf Air. The price was the cheapest that Flight Centre could find for us from Brisbane to Tehran. We found Malaysian Airlines very good, but Gulf Air not great. With this route you have to stay a night in Bahrain, which you pay towards and the the airline pays part of.

Qatar Airways usually have great rates, book the flight from Singapore to Tehran (short transit in Doha) and take Jetstar or Tiger to Singapore, which for me living in Darwin is typically best these days since Royal Brunei stopped flying to Darwin.

You'll find flights out of Sing are often very cheap to the Middle East.

Anyone know if Mahan Air or Iran Air fly direct to Tehran from Bangkok?

Cheers

Hello,
I have done a fair bit of research myself as I am going to Iran in November. A return ticket for Kuala Lumpur - Tehran - Kuala Lumpur (no stopping) will cost you MYR2482 including all taxes with Iran Air. Mahan Air flies Bangkok - Tehran, unfortunately their official website is under construction and the other site to check for Mahan flights are in Farsi. Too bad !!
