Hi there,
I'm planning a second trip to Iran this year and would love any suggestions of places to visit that may not be in guidebooks, or maybe misrepresented in guide books. I'm interested in culture, nature (mountains and hiking) and history. I'm thinking of including the northwest region this time, but happy to hear suggestions for other areas. I've already been to Masouleh, Qazvin, Zanjan, Sanandaj, Palangan, Kermanshah, Khorramabad, Shush, Shushtar, Shiraz, Kerman, Yazd, Esfahan, Kashan and Tehran.

Dear Rafiki
As a climber I recommend you to see this page of lonely planet

They are a Group of mountain instructors who offer hiking and mountaineering tours.
Their tour is combination of trekking & culture. You will live with rural people during their adventure tours.

Maybe also Mashhad! I was there for 9 days last year but I have friends but still worth the trip and almost no foreigners with the exception of foreign Muslims who make a pilgrimage to the the holy sites.
