Hi there!

I'm currently planning my next big adventure and looking for some help. I'm getting train from Europe across to Asia. Will spend a couple months in China and want to enter Pakistan via the Khunjerab Pass. Can anyone tell me whether there will are any particular problems with the border at certain times of year, i mean is it open all year round? And can i get my Pakistan visa on the border (I am an Irish citizen)

Also, i'm looking at spending a week to 10 days in Pakistan, mainly north and then entering India via Lahore...Has anyone got any tips what to see/do while i'm there?!

Thanks!

The Khunjerabad pass is not open year around. It closes at dec.31, before if heavy snow. Opens again around may 1. maybe a bit before.
Although theres reports about being able to get the Pakistan visa at the border its a bit unsure. Not many have reported being able to get it and you do need a LOI. When dealing with pakistan its best to get the visa from home if possible.

End of december? Youl be lucky. The pass is at 4700m so will be hit and miss due to snowfall from october onwards. Plan to cross in september at the latest if you want to be pretty sure of getting through first time.
