Can I catch the mero to the International (Khomeine?) Airport (assuming that's where Turkish Airlines to Istanbul leaves from?)

No, unfortunately not. It's way out in the middle of nowhere. I'm not sure on this but I think your only option is a taxi. You could get the metro south to the end of the red line and go from there.

no, you cannot. 'friedel' is correct. you must take a taxi to IK Airport but make sure you don get ripped off by the cabdriver since you are a foreigner. the ongoing rate, as of early March, when i went to South Korea, was about 140,000 rials ($16). There is a 4-digit number you may dial for Airport Cab to send you someone to pick you up at your door and take you to the airport. but i im afraid i have forgot that number.Bye.

There is a "Southern" line of the new modern Tehran Metro; however, it doesn't yet go all the way to the new Imam Khomeni International Airport, stopping at Haram-e-Motahar. The extension to IKIA (and a new city 10-km beyond) is under construction, expected within 2-years. Taxis are available at IKIA.

Taxi's from central Tehran to the old (domestic) Mehrabad Airport, should be $5 or less.
