Hi, thanks for reading my post. I'm Canadian and would like to be in Iran in just short of 2 months. I figure there is a real probability that just going through the Canadian embassy I may not get it in time (a fellow traveler posted that they got it in 2 months). So I am looking at one of those services that gets you a code, like iranianvisa.com. I figure that at least there will be someone proactively pushing for it. Then hopefully the turnaround at the embassy will be doable.

But, no one seems to have any good experience with these providers. Can anyone recommend?

Thanks,
Lawrence

Hi Lawrence,

I'm a Canadian who received a tourist Visa in about 3 weeks directly from the Iranian embassy in Ottawa. This was in February of this year, and I visited Iran in May. I know several other Canadians who received theirs in about the same time, and had applied this year. That's no guarantee though - I know Canadians who have had their application rejected.

I've heard good things about securing a visa from Pars Tourist Agency (www.key2persia.com), and they were helpful and prompt when I made inquiries before going on my trip.

Good luck.

Hi Lawrence,

I like your choice of words including 'proactively pushing for it'.lol.
Well, there are many tourists who have secured visa by contacting travel agencies like 'iranianvisa.com' or 'key2persia'. Just do a keyword search and you wills ee what I am talking about. Also, you should take time to review relevant questions and replies that have been posted on Iran forum during the last 6 months or so. I was about to forget to say that I have heard that you, as a Canadian that is, may and probably would have have a better chance of being approved if you applied for visa outside Canada, like in Euorpe. This is of course feasible only if you are in fact traveling before coming to Iran. Take care.Bye.

hi there
has anyone tried applying for visa directly at Iranian embassy in London? If I go there in person will they need to keep my passport? How long does the process take?
Am planning to enter Iran via land from Turkey, so can't use airport e-visa.
Appreciate any info from any of you!!
Thanks !

hello,
in follow up to #5, we decided to try our luck ourselves at the Iranian Embassy in London today.
It's been a good experience so far - submitted papers (application form downloaded from website, copy of passport, 2 passport-size photos) for processing. Paid GBP 80 for British passport and GBP 13 for Malaysian passport.
We are to go back in 2 weeks' time to see if our application has been approved. If it is approved, have to leave our passports at embassy for 2-3 days to get visa processed. Was no problem at all, very friendly and efficient service. Fingers crossed we get our visas!!

I submitted my application to the London embassy (I have a UK passport) last week, and received confirmation yesterday that it had been rejected.

I understand the problem was that I didn't have a sponsor. I've lost the £80 fee, which is rather annoying, but I'm going to try to use one of the agencies, and see if I can get a sponsor and then re-submit my application. It's proving to be very expensive, and very time consuming.

Persian Voyages are a bit dearer than some but they did PROACTIVELY chase up the Iranian Foreign Ministry for me when they stalled over issuing my authorisation number.

SRICHMOND: Its not so much a sponsor you require, its a visa authorisation number from the Iranian Foreign Ministry in Tehran. Because of this you DO need to get an agency to do this for you as they are in effect your sponsor (being registered with the IFM.

The only alternative is getting a friend in Iran to arrange it as your sponsor via the IFM. However most people aren't in this position.

And the Iranian Embassy in London has a deplorable record, even by the deplorable standards of Iranian Embassies in other Western Countries

If you use an agency they will (if you wish and they may charge extra) submit you aplication form and passport to the embassy on your behalf. But the visa does have to go to the embassy to get the visa inserted. Incidentaly (this may already have been covered), when you apply for the registration number you can nominate any Iranian Embassy in the World to get your visa from
