I booked a flight to go to Iran during Easter holiday next year, ie. land in the morning of 21st March. Then I realized the 20th March will be Iranian New Year. Wonder if it is still o.k. to go, how long will museums be closed and if the tourist sight will be opened.
Hello,
Easy: If you have another option, don't come here during Norooz (new year holidays).
First, Norooz is a very family-based holiday; then, almost all plane/train and even bus seats plus hotels and hostels get booked in advance and many state offices and agencies are closed!
Regards,
-- Ali

#1 is right, the hotels are full, the bus/train/plane seats sold out and the roads even more dangerous than usually. On the other hand:
there're hardly any other foreigners around. It's great to watch Iranians on holiday, having fun and they're more friendly and welcoming than ever. I visited Iran during the No Ruz and had a wonderful time, in spite of transport problems. If you can prepare a detailed itinerary and book the hotels and transport well in advance, go!

HI. For the New Year everyone has one week holiday and students and some organizations have two weeks holiday and we have the custom to visit each other in the new year so a lot of Iranian travel. Actually everything is over booked, transportation, accommodation, etc. 19 Mar. to 4 Apr. is very crowded and you can not find anything or it is over charged, except you reserve all WELL in advance.

Hello! I started my Iran trip of 15 days beginning April 4 this year with a
personal guide. I had difficulty communicating with the agency before
my visit as the office had shut down. But i had an over the top greatest trip
of all my travel experiences. My guide reported to me that the popular sites
such as Persepolis were so overcrowded during No Ruz that visitors had
the worst time seeing the apadana, for example. She would not recommend
a visit to Iran if you have museums as a priority.
