Hi people,

I'm thinking of taking two weeks in Iran in January but have no idea really where to start. I'll fly into and out of Tehran for sure, but can anyone recommend their favourite places/things to do or see in Iran? Obviously love to meet some people, see some history and culture, but some natural beauty would be great too. Also not anywhere too cold at that time so northern Iran is out I guess... the other place that I've seen recommended was queshm island- anyone been there and is it too far to go from tehran?

Cheers!

Qeshm is not that easy to visit as you either need to be on a tour or have your own transport. There is a whole lot else to see in Iran first though! If you have never been then you should consider the obvious classic choices of Kashan, Yazd, Isfahan and Shiraz. It all depends on what you are interested in and if you are traveling on your own and what type of transport you want to use. It's not just the North that can be cold in January but that should not dissuade you either. If you want to PM me would be glad to share. Good reviews here about ease of getting visa at IRI consulate in Dublin.

Hi
As previous replier said, Qashm is far away from Tehran, but if you arrange your itinerary so that shiraz be at the end, shiraz is almost nearer to Qashm, although, you can fly from Isfahan or shiraz to Qashm and from there to Tehran
Cheers

Hello
Glad to hear that you have chosen Iran for visiting. You have to know that January is the cold season in Iran, so you have to care about your clothes.
I'm from Iran and can let you know everything you need to visit different places in Iran but first of all I have to know that what type of places are you interested to visit? Historical? Natural? Mountain Climbing? Hiking?
Please e-mail me and say about your interests then I can guide you well.
Sincerely Yours
Babak
