Greetings all
Just a quick one. We are quite keen to visit Kashan during our visit to Iran next month. Does anyone have any recommendations for places to stay in the area? Also, any tips on 'must-sees' and little side-trips around Kashan itself?
Many thanks in advance for any advice.
Simon

Hi,
Hotel Sayyah (2*) is in the city centre.
Agha Bozorg mosque is a must-see in my opinion, because of its combination of mosque/school.
Side-trip can be Abyaneh (about 1/30 hour driving).
Have good time,
Hassan.

So far as I know, apart from a rather basic (though according to LP, perfectly OK) guesthouse style place, Sayyah is the only game in town.
I stayed there two years ago: the hotel was functional, though nothing special at all, especially as rooms cost a relatively steep 20 Euro a night for a single. Though I'm sure you could bargain that down out of season.

Hi,
There are some other “games” too such as: Amir Kabir hotel (not recommended by tourists), Kowsar Hotel/apartment (new but 3 km out of town, need a basketball team to fill the beds!) and two other guest houses.
Have fun in the game!!
Hassan.

Hi,
Kashan has some places for seeing (I visited them 4 years ago), In addition to Abyaneh and Agha Bozorg school, you can visit Kashan Bazar, Fin garden, Borujerdi house (and 2 other houses, I think one of them is Tabatabaee house), and Niasar city near to Kashan.
Take Care,

Hi there! I also stayed in Sayyah Hotel in Kashan - it was last year. They know there is nowhere else "okey-ish" to stay and don't bargain :(. It was 22 USD I think for a single room. There is a Golestan Pension next door - I went to check it out - it looked bad. I met one guy who stayed there - he said he felt like being in prison cell... well, but I think it was 7 USD or smth like that.
Overall I did not like Kashan much - was the least interesting place that I visited. Fin gardens were nice - at night they have nice illumination and it is very relaxing to walk there; bazar was friendly enough - I thought walking on the roof of bazar was kind of cool - some good views of the city as well; and then you can visit the traditional houses - they all are in one area (I visited 4 of them).
I met some other tourists and we went to Abyaneh - very easy half-day trip. The village seemed pretty dead to me - almost no people around; only few old ones. I liked the dresses of old women (the skirts - quite amazing); also the views from the building with the pool which is near the Mosque are very nice and peaceful - sort of meditative place. Otherwise, I was so disappointed with Abyaneh that I almost cancelled my intention to visit Masuleh (thinking it would be smth similar to Abyaneh) - well, I went to Masuleh and it was suddently a huge highlight of Iran for me :).
Have a great trip to Iran! It is really amazing country!

My friend and I did stay at Golestan Guesthouse and thought it was alright...very basic room. Two very hard beds, one table and a heater are inside the room. We paid 100,000IRR. We didn't really mind the condition much, just wanted a cheap one. The shared toilet and bathroom were clean. I did have lunch at Sayyah Restaurant, the food was nice. We did like Kashan a lot. We visited those traditional houses and thought they were fine.
