Hi,
We have booked our flight to Iran today here in Switzerland. So far so good. However, the travel agent informed us about a new visa regulation, which apparently has been in effect for two weeks now. It says that in order to get a visa you have to provide a list with prebooked hotels. He did not offer us any advice since this situation is new for them as well...
Has anyone obtained a visa recently and how did it go regarding this issue?
Thanks!
Paul

Salam!

I am in Iran now for one week and met two girls from Switzerland some days ago in Tehran. They obtained their visa on arrival at ICA without having to give such a list. I myself (I am from Germany.) told them that I have no booked hostel but just a list of possible addresses. They didnt want to see this list. Just please dont kill me if it does not work for you.

With best regards from Kashan

Marcus

I've had this before when getting a visa but I am a brit and neededd to provide proof of my entire journey. Just got this year's visa and did not have to provide any proof (just had to have my guide confirm I was under his wing, so to speak). Are you getting visa on arrival or in advance - may be different rules for former, of course.

Thx for your reply. We are are applying for a visa in advance. Since this is the first time we are required to apply for a "reference number" before we can apply for the visa itself. We were told to provide a list of places where we'll stay to get this "reference number".
I will keep you posted how it goes.
Thx

Thx for the information. Glad to hear that they still let people in :-)
We'll try to assemble such a list of possible addresses for our visa application.
I'll keep you posted how it goes.
Thx
Paul

I can understand the regulations regarding visa may look confusing, depending on who you ask.
I got my visa at the Iranian consulate in Stockholm (I'm Swedish passport holder) and I didn't need to produce a reference number, even if I was asked.
Anyway, I don't think anything new has happened last weeks. It looks like Iran is in the process of easing up the regulations. Now you can get VoA for 30 days at IKA airport. I don't think you need to present a full itinerary. Just the first hotel in Teheran where you will stay will do. It's a mere formality.

I even gave them fake data of a not existing hostel, they didn´t check and I was in.(Same I did later when I bought my iranian SIM card.) I told the guy who made the messenger between the aplicants and the visa-guys that I didn´t have a hostel and he was like: Just write something in. They are quite cool about this stuff recently.

Hi guys,

Just get the confirmation of the hotel of your arrival and there won't be any problem.

Confirmation of the first hotel where you would stay in.

We got the visa last week from the embassy in Switzerland. We supplied a list with places where we intend to stay of which only the first one is already booked.

Thanks for the help
Paul
