By law, drinking alcohol is Harram.

By islamic law alcohol is forbidden (haraam), the alcoholic beverages that were known in Arabia at the beginning of islam were "khamr" and "nabiidh", as far as I remember - one was wine made of grapes, the other was wine made of dates. "Sharaab" is beverage, I don´t kwow whether it is mentioned with the meaning "wine" in the qur´aan (Koran). I don´t speak Farsi, may be "shuruub" means wine there. I just wanted to drink an innocent beer in Iran in the evening. That is forbidden because islamic jurisprudence says beer is a drink with the similar effect that has"nabiidh" on you. The way those guys came to this conclusion is called "qiyaas (deduction by analogy)".
yahrib buyuuthum (may he - God - destroy their houses) ! (I`m joking)
Thanks again to all, I go to Iran tomorrow
