All right, oddly I saw this reply just moments before leaving Iran, which means, before a friend of mine will call a taxi for me, so I don't know yet what will happen. In my way in, I refused to pay the fixed 17 Eur rate and ended up with an "illegal" taxi for 10 Eur. Of course there are buses. The thousands of employees in the airport are not coming by taxi. But they won't foreigners know how to use the public transportation system so taxis will keep the monopoly.

Ironically I keep the opposite idea: taxi drivers were one of the few good surprises in Iran. Used taxis about a dozen of times and always had good and positive experiences. Can't tell the same of Iranians in general. My experience after 19 days wandering.
