There aren't any direct flights from Bangkok from January...only via KL.

Low season for Iran (too cold for most)so I guess they cut back on flights that time of year......

The smart thing is to wait for a few weeks till Air Asia has its next big Mega-Sale for super-cheap flights. They do it 2-3 times a year.
