Hello!

I’ll be in Iran from 16th July until the second half of August and I wonder if I should reserve rooms. I’d like to stay at middle budget hotels and guesthouses in Yazd, Esfahan, Shiraz, Tabriz... I believe there won’t be a vast number of tourists travelling in the South because of the high temperatures. It’s low season, I guess. The situation in the North may be different....

We are two people - so we’ll need one double room. If possible we would like to stay at traditional houses in the centre with low distances to the places of tourist interest - we love to walk. I read that there are plenty of such houses in the old town of Yazd such as Silk Road Hotel, Orient Hotel, Yazd Traditional Hotel, Malek-o Tojjar... This is what I’m looking for (also in other cities). I like historic places to stay.

Do you believe hotels like that are booked out? As I could read some only have few rooms. Is it advisable to reserve ones room in advance or can you easily get a double room by walking by and asking? The problem is that I don’t know yet when I’ll be where and how long I’m going to stay in the different locations. I like to be free and flexible during my journey.

Does anyone have experiences according travelling in July/ August and finding adequate accommodations?

Thanks

Best regards geadl

To my experience - the places i stayed in Iran where never fully booked in 2006/2007.
On the contrary, some are desperate to have you. In extreme cases they try everything to not quote a price upfront (boss not here, trust me, very cheap, ) and let you take the room. (and make their own price once you leave.) Iran has seen far better times regarding tourism.

I'd say check the places out on the spot, it might take a taxi ride extra but you have the luxury to choose.

Good luck!

Hi,

you say, : " Do you believe hotels like that are booked out?" . I do not know and i doubt if there are hotels like that in cities like Tehran -- Perhaps in Yazd or Kerman but not in Tehran. And I agree with No 2. Most Iran hotels/motels/hostels/guest houses/etc. are never fully booked no matter when! Indeed they have lots of vacancies and would love to have you even at a discounted room rate. The only exception is of course during the Iran New Holiday Season (March 20-April 2) when millions of Iranians rush out of mostly Tehran into other cities for sightseeing and visiting old relatives.Bye.
