You forgot to mention your budget.
Cheap hotel are mostly located in South Tehran and Middle to high budget hotels are from central to north Tehran.

For a budget room I can recommend Firouzeh Hotel but it's not in a great district.

Heard some hotels in Taleghani Street (Takhte Jamshid) like Mashhad Hotel are cheap and nice.

more pricey but nicer hotels are Ramtin Hotel in Valiasr, And Azadi or Esteghlal hotels in Chamran.

Hi,
I agree with No 1. However, I may add to the list given above my choice of Atlas Hotel (central Tehran, right around the corner by now-closed American embassy, $38?, single room with bath) and Naderi Hotel (downtown, noisy, close to bazaar, $26?). Of the two if i had to choose I would definitely go for the former (better hotel, much better neighborhood). However, please note that the latter is surrounded by numerous foreign exchange shops, restaurants, etc. while the former is not! Good luck.

My choice was Naderi hotel. Not New Naderi, for which I paid around 30 $ for single, but "old" Naderi, which was around 15 $. It is 200 m south of New Naderi, but to me has more soul. Spacious and clean.

(sorry wrong key)

HI, I last stayed at the Hotel Arman - you will find it in the LP guide. In June 05 it cost $15 USD a head. Not real flash - but good enough. Kind of walking distance to IM square and the Bazaar down the road. It is on a relatively quiet street. Be aware that the polution in this part of town can impact you eventually. You pay more for the northern hotels as you would escape a higher proportion of the polution.

Anyone know a better and cheaper one? I am going again in March '09
