Hi,

I hold an Irish and Australian Passport. I have left it too late to get a Visa from either Embassy however when speaking with the Iranian Embassy in Ireland they mentioned that I could possibly get a 15-Day Visa on arrival in IKA Tehran Airport however said they were not certain. Can anyone Confirm this 15-Day visa on arrival for either Irish or Australian Passport holders?

Thanks in advance

Paul

hi,
I do not wish to disappoint you but I am pretty sure there is no (nor has ever been?) such thing as '15-day-on-arrival' airport visa, regardless of what country you are from or what passport you carry! In fact, you should know Australian and Irish citizens no longer qualify for 'instant' 7-day airport visa either. I do not think I am wrong. So If i were you, I would not book a flight to Iran because you will be deported as soon as your plane lands!. Sorry! Take Care.

Yeah I spoke with the Iranian Embassy in Australia today and they said it didnt exist. Not sure what the guy in the Irish one was on about. Also had read on here about the 15-Day visa as well on other posts. Looks like i'll try my luck in Ankara instead.

Cheers!

Hey,

amiriniran, there was a post on here very recently, about most countries now being granted a 15 day visa (excluding the US, UK and the like).
here it is.. maybe you could tell us if it is true or false?

I just called Imam-Khomeini Airport and was able to confirm that Iran had just begun issuing so-called '15-day-on-arrival-airport visa' for almost all nationalities with the exception of 10 countries! The countries excluded are Somalia, Jordan, Bangladesh, UK, US, Canada, Ireland and three more, which the rude and impatient clerk at IK Immigration Check went over very fast and hence I could not write down the name of all countries on the list! However, it seems like Australians are no longer 'blacklisted' and if you also happen to be a dual citizen who happen to be from US, Canada or UK you should be alright too, because you can always use your other passport. Needless to say I would have to call back to double check the info. and also to find out what countries on the list I missed. Good Luck. Bye.

PS: I know for sure that either australia or ireland are on the 'blacklist' above but NOT BOTH! The rude airport clerk simply refused to go over the list again after i told him he had read it too quickly for me to write down all the countries' name!

Hi,
the phone number for the IK Airport is 00-98-21-51001 and you would have to ask to be transferred to the Immigration Desk! DO NOT waste your time and money though. No one speaks English there, I think. I will call them myself tomorrow Saturday or Sunday. Bye

Even if they did offer a 15 day VOA, would the airline even allow you to board? I mean, if the embassy does'nt know about it, who is to say the airline will.

Thankyou for your efforts amiriniran!

hi,

I just called again the Imam Khoemini Airport Immigration and they finally were able to verify and confirm that both Irish and Australian citizens now in fact do qualify for and could receive the 15-day instant visa. Make sure you tell the Immigration officer when checking your passport, that Ireland is NOT part of UK. I am not kidding. The clerk i talked to had this weird notion that Ireland was still part of Great Britain, and had to get back to his boss before answering my question!

However, please remember this new instant 15-day visa is only intended for tourists and if you mention any other reason for coming to Iran (e.g, business, journalism, even learning Farsi) you will be denied visa. So keep this important fact in mind. Bye.

Withshoeson>>>> i think the airline should allow you on board. Also do an extensive search on both Iran Foreign Ministry English web site (Visa Section) and IK Airport to see what you can find. Get a print out and show it to the airline. good luck.
