Hello,

I am posting this for a friend who doesn't have "keyboard fingers" so, I am just the messenger here...
He owns a nice classic 36 ft wooden yacht and is planning on sailing around the Greek islands for the whole summer - maybe even a bit more. So he will be at sea on June, July, August and probably September and is looking for a female companion who's fit, can take the sea, and is somewhere between 30 and 40 yrs old.
If anyone's interested please get back to me, and I will convey the…

Hello, I will be in Antibes for three days next w/end, travelling on my own. I know it's a big yachting centre and was wondering if there are any specific bars the yachties hang out in or if it's possible to do any day sails? I'm from Australia, enjoy sailing and it would be nice to find like-minded folks to chat with during my stay. Hope to see you there!

Looking for a few fun cruising mates for a trip beginning Nov 07 thru May 08, leaving from Galveston Texas, sailing south to the Yucatan, Central America and the Caribbean on board a comfortable 44' ketch. This isn't a paid position, but the sailing cost are covered and you will need your own spending money, other than some meals onboard. Reliable, stable, adventurous, laid back persons with some sailing experience preferred. We will be taking a few trial offshore trips from the Galveston area…

In small boat sailing about the northern coast of the Med, how does one secure a place to drop the hook in some of the more picturesque anchorages. Is this on the pilot charts? Is there a set rule in each country? I have a friend about to do this in a lovely little classic sailboat. It's on the charts, right?

Is there anyone who does perfectly normal travel insurance - basically just medical stuff - for trips up to a year, by boat, where some travellers are older than 45?

I've been reading up a little about freighter travel, but one thing that seems hugely variable is the cost per day. The wikitravel article talks about possibilities of US50 day if you know someone (this seems very very low compared to everything else I see) or US100 from an agency. The Cruise People talk about US125 per day. The prices I've been quoted when I've asked about specific trips are closer to US200/day or more. Are these prices negotiable? Are they just trying to rip me off?

Any advice…
