We're a young English-German couple and have already had some amazing experiences on our trip, diving, surfing, fishing, celebrating and most of all meeting heaps of fantastic people. Check www.svberlinexpress.de to get the idea.

You don't have to be the big sailor, just love the ocean and you'll be alright as the passages ahead are quite mellow. Ideally you join us in…

Hi,

my husband and I are new to freighter travelling, and wanted to inquire about a few things before actually contacting several companies offering those journeys.

Our idea is to fly out to South East Asia and travel around a couple of countries (Singapore, Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia, ), and then on the way back take a ship. Therefore for the starting point of the journey would be better to leave from Singapore or Malaysia. As for the destination, it would probably be best if we could get off…

Is it possible, or how could I organise a return berth from Hobart to Melbourne or Sydney after the Syd/Hob yacht race?

I thought it would be a good chance to gain some experience crossing Bass straight, and seeing that most of the boats would be leaving at a similar time, it would be fairly easy to find a position.

If anyone has any info or even a boat to jump on, it would be a great help, thanks guys

I have read every page of this forum (all 65 of them, some going years back!) and I see a lot of questions about jobs on cruise ships, and it seems there aren't many answers.

I am really trying to get a job on a cruise ship as either a server or a bartender. I have years of experience, from serving and bartending mid-range, to bartending at one of Canada's top hotels. A week ago I sent my resume out to some free agencies, and I was wondering if anyone had any other avenues to try.

As well, I…

Well the poster once known as Dishy has decided to swallow the anchor-without ever having her boat out under sail or even determining how to start the motor.

FYI-people are said to swallow the anchor after being live aboards for years or even decades.
