Has anyone been on the island princess.We are going on there for 18days but are wondering how much spending money we will need.Also how much do the excusions cost.Any help would be appreciated as this is the first time we have been on a cruise.
We are visiting La for 3 nights then on the boat to Mexico, Guatemala, puerto quetzal, puerto corinto, puntarenas, panama canal, cartagena, Aruba, Ocho rios, Fort Lauderdale.....

We are both retired.We think we will want to join in all the activities on the boat.

Thankyou for any help you are able to give.

A couple of hints.
Asked to be seated at a large table (8-10 ) you'll meet other people quickly. Also don't take the ships shore trips. Get a few people and arrange your own shore trips.
Have a wonderful trip.

Not sure if you've already departed on your trip, in case not, check out princess.com which links to your ship and the voyage and the shore excursions offered in each port (costs, descriptions etc)
I'm actually the Shore Excursion Mgr for a rival line, but have done this route many time before.
If I were you, I'd research the ports before you go, make a note of what interests you, check out the Shore Excursions and see if they match anything you like, if not, consider indep. travel. Although I am in Shore Excursions, I do not always advocate them in some ports, as in some places it's easier/cheaper/more convenient to do things yourself. But in some ports, you have no choice, and the ships trips are cheaper and more convenient.
My suggestions in some of the ports you visit would be;
P. Quetzal - get to Antigua or Lake Atitlan. It'll be a fair drive from the port, so a taxi/private vehicle with friends or a tour would be best here
Puntarenas - the Poas Volcano, canopy tour (for a wild ride), sky walk, Monteverde Cloud Forest, Orchid Farm are the better choices. Puntarenas is a long way from anywhere, taxis are ltd here, private vehicles could be a good option or a tour
Panama Canal - Chagres River, Embera Indian Village, Gatun Locks are top choices. If you dock at the Yacht Club in Gatun Lake, there are no taxis (ships tours are the only thing possible), if you dock at either end of the canal then indep. opportunities abound. Seeing the locks from the shoreside is a different perspective from being onboard
For specific Island P. queries, get on cruisecritic.com and ask away, the folk there are very helpful.
Have a great trip because you're going to be in a very awesome part of the world!
