Greetings everyone,

My name is Marc, and am currently in Boquete, Panama. Shortly I will be heading to Panama City to investigate the possibility of doing a Pacific crossing on a sailing yacht. I started this trip in Mexico City in late October, and have made my way down through Central America with the intention of sailing off towards either Australia or New Zealand, via the Galapagos, French Polynesia, and/or whatever else the captain would choose on the way there.

Experience:

Honestly very limited. Learned to sail this past summer on Lake Ontario in Toronto, Canada. Took the course to increase my chances once I got to Panama. I absolutely loved it, but only learned to sail 2 man albacores. While the albacores were tons of fun and very sporty, I am very interested in sailing on a bigger boat in bigger waters as it is more conducive to my love of travel.

What I offer:

27 year old male from Canada who is physically fit, very patient, intelligent, extremely easy to get along with, accomidating, (yet not a pushover), hard working, willing to do any of the duties on board, easy to teach, and very eager to learn. I have sufficient funds to contribute to travel costs, and also enough money to fly home from anywhere in world if needs be. I speak English and French, and have picked up a bit of Spanish on my travels through Central America.

I am looking to sail with someone who has the same eagerness to teach sailing, as I have to learn sailing. As stated before, I am looking to get to Panama City by around January 9, 2007, and can stay there well into February while I see what options I might uncover.

Before my trip I was working in the world of advertising, and decided that I needed a career shift. As I love travel, I decided that I would ponder my next career move while on the road instead of while doing the same old job. One of my main interests is photography, and I have been documenting my trip so far at www.pbase.com/marc_guitard<BR>
If I am someone who could fit what you´re looking for, and the timing is right, I´d be very happy to do some day sails in the region to see if I´m a compatible crew member. Also, if anyone is looking for crew for short sails in the region without the intention of doing a major crossing in the near future, or possibly canal transits in either direction, I would be very interested to crew for you as well to gain some experience. If anyone can forward this to someone who might not research this website, that would be very appreciated as well. T

So that´s me. I hope to hear from you soon or maybe see you down at one of the yacht clubs!

My email is marc_guitard@hotmail.com
Thank you and safe travels!

Dear Marc

If you are reading this it could be of some help. This summer i lived in the La Boca section of Panama City. I remember a few blocks away from where i lived i could see MANY MANY sailboats at a marina right on the mouth of the canal on the pacific side. maybe you could search around there if you would like to sail further from central america

Try being a line handler on yachts doing the Canal passage. The season to head to the South Pacific begins about April and you should not have much difficulty finding a ride.
