My husband and I are planning on going traveling for a few months with our baby, She will be 5 months when we leave. We are hoping to explore Thailand, Malaysia and possibly Indonesia and the Philippines. Any tips for these countries, or tips on just general travel with a young child??? We are going to leave in January hoping to miss out on the hottest weather.

Hi everyone,

I was just wondering if anyone could recommend a few activities or attractions that one could bring their family to in Amsterdam. Specifically for children aged 5-13 that they would find interesting.

Thanks so much!

Wondering if anyone has some good ideas for destinations that would work with the following: My wife and I, a 5yr. old, 7yr. old and two late 60 something grandparents that are pretty mobile and in decent health. We have been trying to find a destination outside of the continental US with a good mix of culture/history and attractions for our kids. Looking for 2 week long trip with a combination of driving and establishing a base for a couple of days at a time. Some ideas we are considering…

Me and my wife will go on a pretty big journey next year, with our daughter who will be one year old.
We have to decide soon, but have been unable to pick the destination, we have been around and done some rough journeys in central Asia, the Caucasus, and northern Africa. So we are not unfamiliar to longer, les traveled road.

The Question is, witch of our drawn-up countries/regions are ok for a 1-year old. I am thinking of bacteria, quality of food, diseases, hygiene, sanitary, healthcare, and…

Hi,

I will be travelling with 2 toddlers (1 and 3) In may to Malaysia. I was thinking of taking one of those "ready beds" for one of them to sleep on but dont know if it will be more hassel than its worth. Has anyone done this? By ready beds, i mean one of those toddler inflatable beds that has inbuilt pillow/blanket that I can just blow up and put on the floor for him instead of needing to get rooms with enough beds for all of us. Or do you think it would be easier to just go the extra bed in…

Can anyone recommend accomodation for Melacca? Travelling with my husband and 1 and 3 year old. Would love something in the "old town area" not too expensive.

I have heard the "old town guesthouse" has great reviews but I am unsure if its in a good location or not?

Any recommendations would be great

Hubby and I have decided to travel for part of maternity leave to SEA with our baby, who will be 8 mths old in March. We are planning on going for 1-2 months, renting an apartment (as opposed to moving baby around to different hotels, we'd like to be somewhat settled), hubby would like to dive, I'd love to relax on the beach. We were thinking Cambodia, but I've heard it's not best for travelling with a baby due to lack of decent hospital care and risk of dengue fever.

Places we are now…

Hi there
We'll be spending 4 weeks in Chiang Mai with our 1 year old baby - due to arrive in 1 week. Just got some general questions...

  1. Dengue fever - what's the current situation with that? How common are day time mosquitos? We'll have DEET repellant and will try and cover up, but am a little concerned especially with bubs.

  2. Are there many shops that sell baby clothes and goods? We're bringing just an Ergo carrier but wondering if a stroller might be useful some of the time.

So, there have been some posts about whether or not it is wise to travel with a newborn or not. I realize that I don't realize the full magnitude of the changes I will encounter with a firstborn, however, I hope to anticipate some of the challenges. As a self-employed individual with a partner with amazing parental benefits, we are considering spending 2 - 3 months in a foreign location with our newborn (still expecting). We imagine a place with access to medical facilities, where hiring a…

Hello! We are planning to go on vacation with our 6 month old baby to Oahu, Hawaii on Dec2012. Is this an appropriate time for our baby to travel? What immunization would she need aside from the routine 6 mons old immunization? Should we bring a carseat for her? By this time she has been started with solid food and breastfeeding. What are the places in Oahu that we can go? How about the sun screen? What type is safe for babies 6 mons old. Aside from our baby, we are also bringing our 8 year od…
