Hi all
We are leaving to Australia in sept. with our 18 month old daughter. I welcome all tips and trick people can offer on the subject of backbacking with babys especially in Australia. Since we are from Europe we are a bit conserned about the wildlife (meaning spiders, snakes and so on) because she picks up everything. Also we welcome infos on sunprotection and other dangers to be aware of. What do we have to take? or is everything (suitable babyclothes etc.) best to buy once we are there?
We…

Hi

Planning to take my son to Hong Kong next April. He'll be about 18 months at that stage.

Which is the most travel friendly airline to go from Melbourne to Hong Kong? I have the choice of Cathay, Qantas, Japan, Malaysia and China Southern (in descending cost order).

How well do children travel overnight? Do they really sleep on planes?

Did anyone with a similar length of flight (ie, 9 hours) break it up?

Thanks in advance...

Just lurking here, loving Lonely Planet and looking forward to my next trip out of here. Please take my question in good spirits; I mean no harm or disrespect. So here goes: I am floored by the many contributors here who have taken little kids around the world. Looking back to the days when we had 2 kids in diapers, it was a challenge some days to take the trash out, let alone backpack across the Andes or wherever you energetic people go! I could never advise someone to take their toddler…

Hi,

I have some good friends in Iran and they invited us to go for xmas holiday. Of course, my friends told me that there is absolutly no problem to travel with a six years old girl. I have been to Iran before and I think too, that there is no big problem about that. But my girlfriend (mother of the child) is not shure about it.
Has anyone experienced a trip with a child in Iran ?
I am happy to get some opinions !

Thanks

ojodoro

This issue came up in another forum related to our plans to go to England next summer, flying from the U.S. (approx 7-8 hours flight time). My wife is pregnant and is due at the end of January and we were planning to travel at the end of June...at which time the baby will be 5 months old.

One response from the other forum said:
"...have a feeling that its not recommended that babies under 6 months fly long haul. I think its something to do with their hearing or lungs not being fully enough

My husband and I would like to take a trip for a week or two sometime between February and April of next year with our daughter, who will be around 7-9 months old at that time. Does anyone have any recommendations of a baby-friendly beach spot that doesn't require too much hardship to get to, but isn't full of high-rise hotels and crammed with tourists. We've done quite a bit of travelling around SE Asia already (pre-baby), and would like to explore a new region. We were thinking Central or…

Okay, so we are kind of oldies in travelling with our kids. They have been travelling since they were born and we had great experiences with it. Now we want to leave to Africa and travel some time with them through the country. We love to camp and the kids will be 6,41/2 and 3 when we leave next year.
Does anyone have any experience with kids that age ? The costs, the dangers (wildlife ?) and anything I really need to know ??
Thanks

Hi,
We're in the UK and taking our 3 children on a 4 month long trip next year to Guatemala, also visiting Canada and transiting through the US en route. We're looking for a good insurance package that would cover all eventualities for all 5 of us for this trip - kids will be aged 5, 3 and 16 months when we leave. Most of the 'year' deals seem to specify a certain length of trip at a time or a smaller number of days in the year than we will be away.

Can anyone recommend anyone they've used…
