Hi

I've got three kids, aged 2, 5 and 9 and am thinking of taking them to Mauritius, Seychelles or Reunion. Has anyone travelled with kids in one of these recently? What are the pros and cons? Any major problems? Can you buy everything you need and what about health care?

All tips and advice greatfully received.

Thanks

Seychelles aren't the most friendly destination for the two-year old, but at least the country is safe. Restaurants are few therefore the children may feel like they're always hungry. Sun block is absolutely necessary. No medical emergencies occurred during our trip so I can't advise you there.

Most of the hotels don't have gates or guarded premises per say to prevent toddlers from wandering off into the ocean or into the wild. And that's why I would say that you kind of have to keep an eye on the two-year old more frequently than you'd probably like being on vacation and all.

We visited the Seychelles with our son (2 years and 2 months) in Dec 2003 and had a wonderful time. We did stay in 'nice' hotels which helped! We found the food great particularly as a lot of the hotels had buffet meals. This meant I could pick out food my son would eat first, then go up seperatly to get mine. The staff were all very friendly towards him (more so than people are here in the Uk).
I think the bits my 2 year old liked the best were the hotel swimming pools and the beach, so I guess we could have been anywhere! However we found the Seychelles completely hassle free, so therefore we were happy and relaxed!
We chose the Seychelles over Mauritius because we figured there would be more to do. We spent 2and half weeks there and stayed on 3 different islands, Mahe, Praslin and La Digue. I would definately recommend La Digue with kids because there are hardly any cars on the island. Everyone walks or cycles. One day we hired bikes with a childs carrier on the back and my son loved it! I would have chosen Mauritius if we had wanted to stay at just one resort.
I did take nappies with me. They had plenty there, but they did seem expensive. We had no problem getting pasteurised milk.
We had no health problems whatsoever, just made sure my son was always covered in suntan lotion or in his UV suit.
All in all I would definately recommend the Seychelles with a 2 year old!
If you want any more info, just ask (on this thread again!)

Hi there

Im getting married next year on july 2005. During the last three days i and my fiance started to plan for our honeymoon by the enternet. i really hope it going to be SEYCHELLES. our big problem is the budget-money. we live in israel and we dont have direct flights for the african islands, so we must have two flights at least for every direction. its already expensive. but about the hotels, tours, restaurants ... in seychelles???? Is it true that every thing there cost much????
how much money (dollars) do we need in order to spend a wonderful honeymoon in seychelles ????
