My husband and are I planning a 3 month sabbatical to Europe- particularly France, London, Holland, Spain, and Italy. We would like to rent a dlat or house in France for a portion of the trip but do not know where. Basically, I don't even know where to start. We will depart beginning of May until Late July. Our kids are 3 and 8. We don't know how much to pack or where to stay. Somewhere kid-friendly and near transportation as I am not to fond of driving abroad. Also, should I be concerned with any health issues abroad. My kids are generally healthy but 3 months is a long time for us to be abroad so I have the typical motherly jitters. Any info on the Eurail (standard or first class with kids?), accommodations (rental flats), and food would be great. Thank you in advance and God Bless.

I could be wrong but I think that if you are over 26 you have to take the first class eurail option.
As long as you have health insurance you will be fine. All the countries you refer to have good medical care, clean water etc.
There are loads of houses and flats to hire all over Europe - and tons of websites. You really need to decide first where you want to stay before you start looking.
I understand your concern about driving abroad but its often not as bad as it seems. and gives you much more freedom if you want to be in the country side. On the other hand public transport in Europe is good and kids love trains. You might want to try a bit of both ( ie a Eurail pass for a while to cover ground and see some major cities and a car hire to explore a particular part of Europe in more depth possibly from the base of a rental house or cottage.

If you are American you may want to check with your health insurance company and find out what the details are about paying for health care in other countries. Our insurance company would pay for procedures but we had to be reimbursed, so we'd have to pay out of pocket and then get reimbursed which could get expensive.
Also, medical evac. insurance is pretty cheap and if you needed to come home for some specialized treatment or just because someone got really sick it would be well worth it.
Happy Travels

For the train: i would not recommend first class. It's not child-friendly at all, the business people will be annoyed by your kids! Standard class is comfortable enough, and probably more relaxed. Don't use the train in the rush-hour (before 8.30).

My husband and I Had a great place that was offered by a company that sells unused timeshares (It is a bit last minute) The website is here It as all of the daetails you would need you do have to join for free to view the resorts they have to offer and it is very reasonable ant starts at about 350 per week for a unit that sleeps 4.
