We are travelling with 4 kids to China and Vietnam in March and are looking for a functional light weight stroller that our 7 month old will be able to sleep in during the day (though we'll also have a backpack for him), but that our 3 year old can sit in when she needs a rest. We thus want something light weight, packs up compactly and lays back flat for sleeping.
Can anyone recommend a brand/model - maybe someone has an old travel stroller they no longer use and want to sell it to us (we live in Sydney)
Thanks
Phil & Louise

we have travelled using the convertible kelty and has worked well for us and my 15 month old son enjoys it. it is a backpack/stroller system that is small enough to be taken up to the airport gate. its not the greatest stroller nor is it the greatest backpack but is a good compromise if space is an issue.

Hi!
We bought an umbrella stroller from Target (!!) specifically for our OS trip for our little one who was 8-10 months atthe time. It was only abuot $40-50, and was navy blue (no brandname on it, unfortunately), had three positions (up right, mid way, and sleep-style reclined). It's got a footrest for bigger (toddler/preschool) sized kids, and the bottom of the seat is positionable for very little babies, to act as a little foot barrier. It also had a sunshade which we drapped a sheet over when they went to sleep, and a little basket under the seat for storing stuff (which was bloody hard to get to when the seat was reclined, but thus gave you piece of mind that nothing would be stolen from there!). It folded up quickly and easily, and although it sometimes handled like a shopping trolley (hey it WAS only $40!), it did the job nicely- and this was in Italy, Spain and Egypt (where there are no footpaths, or curbs, or ramps). Didn't take up too much room in taxi boots, etc, yet allowed our little one to sleep when she was tired, and was used often as a make-shift high chair. It was also great becuase we could put her in bed for the night in it, then head out to a resturant and eat LIKE GROWNUPS without interruption, and with a blanket down over the shade, she slept through the whole thing! She's now a toddler, and will be using it on an upcoming OS trip soon.
So go check out places like KMart and Target- forget baby shops like babyco/baby bunting (price hike). Just make sure you take both your kids to the shop and practice putting them in and out of it, make sure they both fit easily, and that feet don't drag on the ground, etc. Make sure you can also fold it up/down in under ten seconds as you'll do it A LOT on your trip!
All the best!

I wouls usually say don't take a stroller, but with four kids and two under four I think it best. I had on of those three wheel contraptions and someone liked it so much they stole it. I then used the stroller described above and used it on trips and at home until my daughter no loner needed one. The only problem is that if you overpack the basket underneath you struggle with closing it etc. I think this would be the best option and I would also recommend it for your trip. The kids will have a great time and the people will love them. Enjoy.

I would recommend the Maclaren VOLO, perhaps you could get a used one off of EBAY. I did.
They can be pricey brand new, but they only weight 8.2lbs and are a mesh fabric. They are UBER light weight and travel wonderfully. THey lock into an umbrella fold and are fantastic.
However. If you wanted the absolute best best best light weight stroller. I would recommend the QUinny ZAPP. We have one, and it travels with us absolutely everywhere. Folded up, it fits in the footspace of the passenger side of my little car!! Its totaly amazing, light light light and everywhere I go, it gets comments.
PS - both of these strollers are good across all manner of terrain. Best of luck finding what you need. My suggestions are both on the highside however, have you thought about a softcarrier??? Kelty makes a soft carrier called the Kangaroo, and you can generally find them used. EBAY baby..... and they are dreamy, light and take the load off!
Cheers...

Hi, I am from New Zealand, and we went to Europe with a 6 month old and a 2 year old for a couple of months. We took a three wheeler buggy, with a recliner seat behind the first one, so one child sits behind the other but both sitting back, check it out at:
https://secure.intellihost.co.nz/philandteds.com/framesetedub.htm

It was brilliant. We saw loads of things and walked miles and it meant both children could rest/sleep at the same time, a 3 year old simply could not keep up with adults or older children. It folds up quite compactly, and can be jigged up to fit on a mans back. Only 2 drawbacks, expensive (but if the children are happy I think it is worth it) and obviously more bulky than a stroller.
We are going to the middle east at the end of the year, with our children now 4 and nearly 3 and are taking it again. They will be just on the max weight, but it worked so well last time.
Will be interested on you comments and feedback. All the best, Alexandra

Take a look at the Maclarent Quest Maclaren Quest Stoller
An important factor is the Buggy must be totally folding inorder to come within the airline's rules for free luggage.
Also when you get to check in ask for permission to tale your buggy through to the boarding lounge - that way you will have somewhere to sit juinior when you are waiting for the boarding call.
