... and a very hypothetical one, too.
I was thinking about the following scenario:
(A) Black parents adopt a white child and travel to a "white" country.
(B) White parents adopt a black child and travel to a "black" country.
I think the first part of (B) is actually not too unlikely but I was wondering what the reactions are/would be in those countries. Again, apologies if this a dumb question but I am just curious.
PS: Also posted on "Sore Thumb".

not exactly an answer, but a third scenario:
white mother has a 'black' (i.e. mixed) child and they travel together.
in nepal: oh is that yours? is she nepali?
in thailand: oh is that yours? is she thai?
in morocco: oh is that yours? is she moroccan?
in a white country: oh is that yours? really? how nice, you adopted her...
:-)

I am a Black American woman, married to a Dane, and we live in Copenhagan with our two daughters. When we travel many people have thought that we adopted the children in the country we are visiting!
Pisses my daughters off that they have been thought to be Italian, Syrian, Turkish, Spanish, etc
My husband and I just laugh it off and take it as a compliment.

My husband is Samoan so my kids are beautifully brown, the only clue that they are not full samoa is their hair, which is not typical polynesian hair but fine dark brown, with lighter highlights when they are in the sun.
I have never had anyone suggest that they were adopted, I live in OZ. And when we were in Samoa the people seemed quiet pleased that i had a samoan husband.
Should be interesting when we travel around the world.
