Any advice for travelling with 2 children 4 & 9 in Thailand. we don't want to spend the whole time on the beach and like to get a bit off the tourist track ?
We are also on a budget.......
Thanks

It depends on when you are going and for how long. Can you give us some more information?

Thanks so much for the reply. We are going 7/11 - 7/12, (4weeks)no plans as yet for when we get there.

OK, four weeks is a good period, particularly around the time you are going as you will get the start of the good weather without the crowds. My advice would be a mixture of the norht and the beaches.
Take a few days to see Bangkok, and get over the jet lag, then head up North. Ayutthaya/Sukhothai are on the route and are good spots to see the ancient ruins, Chiang Mai is worth a visit but Pai/Mae Hong Son are very much better.
Both Pai and Mae Hong Son offer a range of activities that your children will, I am sure enjoy, including day treks, elephant rides etc..
If you want to see the south I'd head for Krabi, and particularly the area around Ao Nang, there is some stunning scenary in the area and some very good value tours.
If you timetable/budget doesn't run to Krabi, you might want to try Kho Samet, a firm favourite with the little Itchies - we usually stay at Tubtim Bungalows. My adivce on Samet is arrive mid week so as to avoid the weekend crowds and have a better chance of getting the rooms you want, rather than what is left.
