Can anyone recommend any good tropical beaches North of Durban that are family friendly,safe for swimming,good snorkelling, a few restuarants. Looking for somewhere to chill after 3 weeks of travelling in august? Thanks in advance.

As far as I know the sea around Durban is very dangerous, as it has a very strong currant which will pull you into the sea. Even dangerous for an adult. Especially for young children.

Hello, as written by scorpio1965, the sea there is dangerous, BUT it is great to chill after travelling around. There are many self catering places for rent for families at very domocratic rates. The sea is rough, but playing with the waves is great.
Go to www.wheretostay.co.za, here you can select the region and have a lot of info on the villages north of Durban.

Did you find a familyfriendly place around Durban? We are going there in september, and need advices for a nice place to stay for three weeks.
