I have a similar question but a little bit different criterion. We want to go somewhere where the sea is really really nice, possibly to dive and snorkel in October-November for 2 weeks. our baby will be 1 year old. there should be no malaria and other bad diseases, good health system, people friendly to children. we will fly out of paris or vienna. I looked at maldives. could your recommend something else?

Queensland, Australia with the Great Barrier Reef should fit your criteria (maybe not your budget/distance constraints which you have not indicated). Common bases include Cairns or Airlie Beach (where you can stay on resorts/ cruise the Whitsunday Islands as well as dive/snorkel the reef).

we stayed in cuba with our two girls. but as soon as you plan beach holydays you'll have to stay in resorts. beaches are great. health system is very good. there's no malaria and people are ^very enthusiastic about children. and it's not that far from europe.

Thailand - (Phuket/Krabi in this part of the season.)
Malaysia - Langkawi or another place on the west coast (not that friendly people as in Thai). No malaria in this part of Thailand (same goes for 99% of the country, hospitals doctors etc. are very good - the best - in Bangkok - are worldclass). The "bird flu" will have dissapeared (I guess) from this part of the world then (and moved to Europe??) - and the risk of being hit by a car is still many, many times higher, than getting the flu - even if you visit a farm)
