Hi, I am landing around 8pm in Agadir, Morooco (feb 26th) to start a 3 week trip with my 3 year old daughter, this is past bedtime, and we still need to unload and transfer, so she'll be fairly knackered and we need somewhere I can prebook for a night or two before setting out. All the hotels on the net are gleaming tourist traps (fairly pricey too) and whilst I am upgrading from pre-child travel (i.e. want a private room preferably with bath & definatley no cockroaches) I want to find something a bit less package that I can book for a couple of nights.
Ok so thats the priority - otherwise planning on staying in Tafraoute (any thoughts on days out, possibly little one on a mule, me on foot - with guide??), and possibly Taroudannt, then North to Essouira (good dose of beach for the little lady) and on to Marrakech for a few days before a flight home. Also want to visit Souss Mass park and Imouzzer des cascades these are likley to be daytrips or possibly one nighters - does anyone thinK staying in Agadir might provide a 'safe' base to do these trips from, any advice and tips welcome.
Cheers MB

hi, i am sure you will have a nice time. i have been with my -then- 3 yr old twice to morocco (last year). i did a different part of the country than you will do so i cannot give accurate advice on accomodations and such. although i have been to essaouira, we stayed in beau rivage, which was allright, has expensive rooms but two proper rooms on the terrace more budget and just as nice (with bathroom). i'm planning to go back again, maybe this year and do a litte trekking with a mule, as you planned. so i you have some tips for me, that's welcome too! i know of one dutch travel agent, that organises trips with children, and they do a mule trekking from Tamelakoute. also from Tioute I think this is possible. within 3 weeks you have quite a bit of time to explore. i did 10 days each time and was surprised how well my child traveled, she didn;t complain about long taxi-rides (3-4 hrs) actually slept most of the time. No worries about food or anything, alway pancakes or chips available if she is bored with couscous, and if not you can always ask to prepare something for her. if you get a chance to get to marrakech, don't skip it because it's a lovely city.
bring a decent stroller anyway (preferably 3-wheeler) and you will have a wonderful vacation.
feel free to PM me if you have more specific questions.
