We are currently living in North India and our teacher just posted the dates of our Hindi school's winter holiday. We've got two weeks in January free but only a couple hundred dollars extra to spend so no plane tickets to the beach. Our kids are 5 and almost 2 and the toddler needs to go somewhere with room to run about. What are some good destinations out in nature that are a long train/bus ride from Delhi which are good to visit this time of year.

How about somewhere in Rajasthan? Pushkar is a nice place and relatively relaxed and easy to get around. Jodphur is beautiful and interesting. Hampi (not in Rajasthan) is an amazing town with incredible ruins that would be so much fun for kids to explore. It's quite far from Delhi though.
